Merry Christmas!!!!

Wedding Shawls

My friend is getting married next week. I knit her this silk wedding shawl - and finished it just in time!


Here she is modeling it at the coffee shop where our knitting group meets.

I made her promise she'd still speak to me after the shawl was knit - I still haven't heard from the last friend I knit a wedding shawl for so many months ago. I don't even know if she got it in the mail. I really enjoyed knitting it, and a gift is a gift, but the experience did make me a little hesitant to make another one for a friend - hence, why I made Justina swear she'd still talk to me before I cast on for this one.

Anyway...

All this white knitting has really made me crave colorwork - so I started a very colorful project for myself; a crocheted hexagon afghan. I've been wanting to learn how to crochet for years and was finally inspired by the perfect project. After learning to crochet a hat, and making 17 of them for Christmas gifts, I decided it was time to tackle the afghan.

I'm so glad I did.

I love it! I'm kind of obsessed with it.


I really, really, love this project.


Since it's made up of lots of little, already memorized, easy segments, it's a great project to work on while watching the little monkey. Not like lace, that requires concentration, and in my case, a sleeping child, to work on.

I think Toby likes it.

I think Oliver likes it too. It's been so cold here lately that I caught him using the work-in-progress to keep him warm while he was on the computer the other night.

I love the colors. I can't wait for it to be done, but I also am really enjoying working on it.

I want to make it really big - so we can use it on our bed. The yarn is superwash wool so it will be machine washable. I'm also toying with the idea of sewing it to our white duvet cover - mostly because I'm going to have A LOT of ends to weave in otherwise.

Everybody's Got a Little Light Under the Sun

Toby took one of our flashlights off the shelf this afternoon and figured out how to turn it on. He thought it was really exciting! 

He spent the next few minutes chasing the beam of light around the living room. 

It was pretty funny. 

The toddler equivalent of the dog chasing her tail. 

And, when he got tired of chasing the light around, he put the flashlight down, and proceeded to chase the dog around the house. 

Thanksgiving

We went to Grandma Louise's for Thanksgiving this year.

Look they match.

And my scarf matched the foliage.

Leaves and rain puddles are fun to play in.


And Grandma has lots of fun toys to play with too.


Like Zuma, the video game our whole family loves.

Last year we went to Grandpa's for Thanksgiving.

And so did I. Oliver, always ahead of the curve, was wearing blue last year; foreshadowing this year's color of choice.
