Monday, May 31st, 2010

It was hot and humid today, so I decided to go for an extra long walk outside. ;o) Toby feel asleep in the stroller on our way back from the park, so I took advantage of the opportunity and walked a little over 6 miles along the river and through our neighborhood. It was overcast, so I didn't get sunburned like I normally do which was fantastic. Wildflowers are growing along the river's edge right now and I just love them. I took a few pictures of them to show you, but they really are so much prettier in person.

Yesterday morning we went to Old Navy and I bought a few new pairs of jeans. My old jeans were two sizes too small, and were looking a little like clown pants. Then, later in the day, I made up for my weight loss by eating my weight in Thai food. We called in some take-out and had a picnic in a park in Elk Grove that we haven't been to before. Did I tell you that there are a lot of parks in Sacramento and the surrounding areas? Yep. A lot of parks. A lot of really nice parks actually. I love that about Sacramento.

Yesterday we explored the Consumes River Preserve and the small town of Galt; slightly south of Sacramento and Elk Grove.

Weekly Workout Notes

Monday – Bad allergies. Monday was my fist day of allergy meds, but I was still having a hard time. With family in town, and seasonal allergies at an all time high, I think I only jogged about 15 miles the week before - but I listened to a lot of running podcasts in between sneezes, and learned a lot - mostly, that I've been doing this all wrong. This week was my first week of cross training. Instead of jogging every day with a day off once a week, I'm jogging every other day and doing the Eliptical machine, cycling, or weight training, so I'm still exercising 6 days out of 7, but I'm switching it up more. That's the plan at least. This week, my father-in-law came to visit and I took that night off to, so 5 days out of 7 this week.

Tuesdy - 4 miles on the treadmill. My neighbor, Michelle, showed me how to use the weightlifting equipment. English is not her first language, and may not even be her second, so it took a long time to go through everything, and I ended up with less time in the fitness center to do the 5 miles I had planned on doing. I ended up only doing 4 miles on Tuesday - but now I know how to use the other equipment (sort of), so it was totally worth it. Michelle rocks.

Wednesday – Eliptical cross training 4 x 3, 20 minute sessions = 1 hour workout and an elliptical distance readout of 12; 12 Kilometers?

Thursday – 5 miles on the treadmill

Friday – x Father-in-law in town

Saturday – 60 minutes on the Eliptical distance of 10 – whatever that means. Level 2. I started off on “fat burning” but that was mind numbingly boring, so, after 20 minutes I switched to “interval training.”

Sunday – 6 miles on the treadmill

42 pounds lost

Exploring Explorit Science Museum, Davis

We went to Davis for a few hours today to check out the "Explorit Science Center" and had lunch at the "Delta of Venus Cafe". I had a tasty veggie sandwich, and the best part, vegan baked goods!!! Yummy.

Right now, Toby's watching a Thomas the Train video, and Oliver's taking a nap right now. We didn't get a lot of sleep last night because our upstairs neighbors woke us up at 3 and then 4 am, yelling at each other again. Ah, apartment life. Toby, however, if you hadn't noticed, is not napping. It's going to be a long day. I'm hoping Oliver will pay me back by watching him for a couple of hours so I can get a long run (jog) in today.
