My Weekend

I went to Stitches West, a knitting convention in Santa Clara - saw a bunch of friends I haven't seen in far too long, bought a lot of yarn and some pretty awesome Celtic knot buttons, but still stuck to my budget for the trip - and had an all around wonderful time. I went to Funderland with Oliver and Toby when I got back - I was only gone two days but I missed them both soooo much! Then we had dinner with my dad who came up for work in Sacramento tomorrow.

It was such an amazing weekend and I have so much to say about it - but, right now, I'm going to just upload a bunch of pictures so you can see them right away, and save the yaking for another day so I can get some much needed sleep.

Hope you had a great weekend too!!

Baby Sweater for Justina's Baby-to-be

My friend Justina is a knitter and pregnant with her first baby. They are waiting to find out the gender - so I went with a gender neutral color for the sweater. I also included another skein for Justina; to make herself a matching pair of socks, or a hat and booties for the baby, whatever. My friend Sabrina, from Fresno (Anzula Yarns) hand dyed the washable cashmere/merino blend yarn - and you can't tell from a picture, but it is soooo soft. It's perfect for baby knits. The soda can is there for scale, and "baby kitty" is there, because Toby was there when I was taking pictures.

Fruit and Veggie Box Week 2

The fruits and veggies are irresistible. Each time I try to take a picture, Toby swipes an apple from the box!

Fruit and Veggie Christmas

We joined a local farm's organic produce weekly delivery service and got our first box of fruits and veggies today - along with recipes and a weekly farm report. I am so excited! Everything in the box is just beautiful, and the apple we sampled was amazing. It pretty much rocks.

Firery Sunset on Ash Wednesday

We stayed at the park until the last possible moment.

The sun was setting as we walked back home on the bike trail along the river. Toby was in tears the whole way - repeatedly telling me that he and his stuffed "baby kitty" wanted to go back to the park. I told him we had to go home because it was getting dark. He pleaded with me to, "Make it daytime again Mama. Make it daytime again."

I love him so much. I wish I could give him everything that he wanted, but know in my heart, that I can't and that I shouldn't, and yet, I still feel guilty about things that I know are stupid to feel guilty about, like making my son leave the park at the end of the day.

If I could, I'd like to give up guilt for lent.

Oliver Greene, Attorney at Law; aka: My Handsome Hardworking Husband

I took some pictures of Oliver yesterday, with the hope that one would turn out well enough for the new website he's been working on.

These were taken in Toby's room against his closet door. I'd like to take some more in natural light, but he's not usually home when there's natural light. If the sun's out, he's at the law firm! Maybe next Sunday?

Here are my favorites from yesterday's photo shoot:
