Ice Cream for Breakfast

So, last night, while I was at one of the knitting groups, Toby slipped in the bathroom and split his lip and gums.

Oliver called me right after it happened and one of the women from the knitting group drove me to the Urgent Care center to meet them. They were going to go to the ER first, but his bleeding stopped and we were told that the wait at the 24 hour Urgent Care place wouldn’t be as bad as the ER.

He needed four stitches, and it took three adults to hold him down for it. His gums look worse than his lip does, but the doctor said there wasn't any thing to do about that one, other than give it time to heal on it's own which is going to take a while.

He’s home and sleeping now, but I’m so wired on adrenaline that there’s no way I’m going to sleep anytime soon. Totally don’t care about the apple juice he spilled on my knitting earlier. All is forgiven.

I talked to my dad on the phone tonight, he’s an oral surgeon, and he gave me lots of tips for minimizing the scaring, and taking care of him the next few weeks. That was really cool. No permanent damage is expected, but I feel so bad for him and tonight was really rough on us too. Holding him down for the stitches was the hardest thing I’ve gone through since labor, and I wasn’t even the patient!
